Mystery do-gooder returns forgotten book to Denver library

Someone dropped a book off at the Ross University Hills branch of the Denver Public Library on Tuesday with a note attached.

"I found this book on the light rail. Returning for borrower. Hope they don't owe a big late fee or replacement. Love from another book lover. P.S. I hope this dollar helps for late fee."

The book is a copy of The Big Idea by Donnie Deutsch. The library had actually deleted it from its system, so employees have no idea how long this book was out of the building.

The library will gladly accept that dollar from the kind stranger who found the book on the light rail.

Someone, librarian Melanie Colletti says, must be a book lover.

"People get really sentimental about their books," she said. "People buy books. They check them out from the library, and they get really attached to them. Especially physical books with pages. I think there's something about them that people will never stop loving."

The library has no idea who that book lover is. They also aren't sure if they'll re-rack that book.
