When he first introduced you to 37-year-old Dustin Shivar, he had suffered a heart attack … despite working out multiple times a week and eating a healthy diet.
He shared his story because he wanted people to realize how big of a deal genetics are when it comes to heart disease.
At the end of our story with Shivar from earlier this summer, he said that he wanted to climb a 14er before the season was over.
Well guess what? His doctor gave him the ok to do just that on Tuesday … and on Monday, he summited Quandary Peak -- five and a half weeks after his heart attack.
“Felt like a new person,” Shivar wrote in an email to 9NEWS. “Stent made my heart better than before. Great day.”
Congratulations on your recovery, Dustin!
