Is it ever ‘too cold to snow?’ Nope. Here’s why.

You might have heard the "it's too cold to snow!" old wives' tale. It's wrong and our meteorologist explains why.

Viewer Lynne Powell had a question for Next with Kyle Clark based on something your parents from the Midwest might have told you:

“Is there any truth to the saying ‘it’s too cold to snow?” she asked.

We got to the bottom of it by walking across the room and asking Meteorologist Danielle Grant.

Her response? Nope.

“Even the coldest air can hold moisture,” Grant said. “Not a lot, but some.”

With that being said, major snowstorms when it’s super cold outside are rare. Don’t blame the temperature though: blame the dry air.

What does this mean?

No matter the temperature, there’s always a chance.
