Guys, attend Great American Beer Fest for your health

Let's face it. Men are notoriously bad about getting a health screening.

It's not all about beer this week in Denver.

True, most people do not attend the Great American Beer Festival for their health. But this year, the Brewers Health Initiative is hoping men who do attend will get a health check.

Let's face it. Men are notoriously bad about those sort of things. The Initiative is using the GABF opportunity to reach men through what they call the “universal language of beer.”

There will be several locations for prostate screenings Wednesday through Saturday. It's a simple blood test, and it’s free.

About 150 men were screened last year.

Guys, get your health checked at these locations:

Wednesday (Oct. 5), 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Inside the Colorado Convention Center from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. for brewers and vendors at GABF during badge pick up and booth set-up.

Thursday (Oct. 6) from Noon to 5 p.m.: Focus Parking Lot at 14th Street and Stout Street adjacent to The Beerliner as part of the 1400 Miles activities. This location is across from the Colorado Convention Center and convenient to everyone attending the GABF.

Friday (Oct. 7) from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Outside of the McNichols Civic Center Building at 144 W. Colfax, the site of the Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII, which is hosted by Pints for Prostates.

Saturday (Oct. 8) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Focus Parking Lot at 14th Street and Stout Street adjacent to the Beerliner across from the Colorado Convention Center.
