SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Mormon church is set to debut a new full-length documentary featuring the stories of six church members from around the globe.

David Bednar of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Quorum of the Twelve said Tuesday in Provo that "Meet the Mormons" will be shown in select theaters starting in October.

Bednar on Tuesday also called on the faith's 15 million members to use social media to flood the earth with uplifting gospel messages.

He said the growing importance of social media within the faith can be seen in an initiative underway to arm missionaries with iPad minis to broaden their proselytizing.

Church leaders expect to have the specially configured mobile devices in the hands of more than 32,000 missionaries by early 2015.
