A mom with a one-year-old has put RTD on the spot over its policy regarding baby strollers on buses.
RTD has a policy that requires riders to collapse strollers before getting on board.
The mother says she had her hands full trying to collapse her stroller with one while holding her one-year-old daughter in the other.
The mom say in addition to accommodating people with disabilities, RTD buses should also allow children to ride while in their strollers.
RTD says non-collapsed strollers have caused problems in the past.
“It was noticed that passengers were sometimes using this space if they weren't disabled or they didn't have a chair or they were blocking the aisles, particularly with strollers it became an issue,” said Nate Currey, an RTD spokesman. “So, there was a lawsuit involved, where RTD agreed to make sure that this area was reserved for the disabled."
RTD says bus operators have some flexibility. However, all strollers must be collapsed before boarding.
