Police: Driver hits, kills man in yard of Denver house

Police said the crash happened just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Mississippi Avenue and Irving Street in southwest Denver.

DENVER — A driver is being held on a vehicular homicide charge after hitting and killing a man in the yard of a home Monday afternoon, the Denver Police Department said

Police said the crash happened just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Mississippi Avenue and Irving Street in southwest Denver. The driver was westbound on Mississippi when he made a wide right turn onto Irving. Police said the driver went into a yard, hitting and killing a man.

The victim died on the scene, police said. His name has not yet been released. 

Police said the driver, 56-year-old James Corpuz, is being held on suspicion of vehicular homicide. They said there were signs that impairment was a factor in the crash.
