GLENDALE, Colo. — A popular gentleman’s club was closed for an investigation last week following an altercation that the Glendale Police Department said left a 48-year-old man dead.

The man who was killed was identified as Wendell Janis.

Officers first arrived at Shotgun Willie's at 490 S. Colorado Blvd. just after 10:20 p.m., according to a news release. Police quickly found two of the men believed to have been involved in a fight, and called an ambulance when officers learned one of them was unresponsive.

That man was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said a 27-year-old man who was also involved in the incident was released from another hospital with minor injuries.

The ensuing investigation prompted police to close Shotgun Willie's to process the scene, obtain witness statements and request video.

Police have not yet released the name of either man involved in the fight. It’s not clear if the 27-year-old will face charges as a result of the altercation.

No additional information was immediately available.
