Man dies of injuries a week after 5-vehicle crash in Aurora

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. Oct. 23 on Colfax Avenue near Interstate 225.

AURORA, Colo. — A driver who was involved in a five-vehicle crash in Aurora last week has died of his injuries, the Aurora Police Department said.

Police said the crash happened just after 6 a.m. Oct. 23 on Colfax Avenue near Interstate 225. A blue Ford pickup speeding eastbound on Colfax rear-ended a Nissan Murano and a Toyota Camry, which were pushed into a white Ford Ranger and a Chevrolet pickup.

Police said the drivers of the blue Ford pickup and the Nissan were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan died of his injuries early Monday morning, police said. His name has not yet been released.

Police said three other people reported minor injuries from the crash. An RTD bus was hit by debris and had minor damage, police said at the time. They said no passengers on the bus were injured.

Police said they "are investigating a medical event as a possible contributing factor to the crash."
