Paragliding accident near Boulder leaves man critically injured

Boulder rescue crews responded to Wonderland Hill in the area of Sixth Street and Locust Avenue around 2 p.m. – crews had to carry the man down the hill on foot.

BOULDER, Colo. — A man paragliding near Boulder Wednesday had to be rescued after an accident that left him critically injured, said Boulder Fire-Rescue. 

The rescue crew responded to the area of Wonderland Hill in the area of Sixth Street and Locust Avenue near Boulder around 2 p.m. after bystanders called 911 about the incident. 

The man was found injured and was located about two-thirds of the way up Wonderland Hill, according to a news release. The man was found with injuries to the right side of his body and had to be transported down the hill on foot, said Boulder Fire-Rescue. 

The man was taken to Boulder Community Hospital in critical condition. 

“This individual needed the skill of first responders to rescue him from the side of Wonderland Hill and get him to the help that he needs quickly and efficiently," said Battalion Chief Mark Evans. "If you see an incident where someone is hurt or in danger, do not hesitate to call 911. Don’t assume that someone else has.”
