FORT COLLINS - A Larimer County man faces felony charges of money laundering and marijuana possession after he was caught on FedEx Kinko's surveillance video shipping a pound of pot to Arkansas, investigators said.

A K-9 team with the sheriff's office in September was working an operation at the FedEx shipping center in Fort Collins. A narcotics detection dog "gave a positive alert to the presence of the odor of a controlled substance" in a package that was being processed, Larimer County Sheriff's Office investigators wrote in an arrest affidavit.

Authorities, after obtaining a search warrant, located about 1.1 pounds, or 17 ounces, of marijuana and packaging materials. For perspective, Amendment 64 legalized adult possession of up to an ounce of marijuana. Prices vary widely, but an ounce at recreational stores across the state costs about $300.

The package had a return address on the 1200 block of Happy Jack Road in Livermore, northwest of Fort Collins, and was en route to an address in North Little Rock, Arkansas, investigators wrote. The name on the package was S. Drennen.

In 2012, deputies searched the same Livermore address and discovered a marijuana grow consisting of 196 live plants, high-intensity grow lights and electrical ballasts. Authorities also confiscated 80 grams of high-grade marijuana and identifying documents for Scott Drennen. Further investigation in 2014 revealed utilities for the property were being transferred into the name of Ethridge Hughes.
