BROOMFIELD - Multiple departments responded to a hazardous materials incident inside a corporate building at 2655 W. Midway Blvd. in Broomfield on Thursday.

John Anthony Martinez, 42, was later arrested in Longmont as a suspect in this case.

An employee arrived at work on Thursday to find a white, powdery substance scattered across the desk. Broomfield Police were notified just after 8:30 a.m. and went to investigate. North Metro Fire's HazMat Unit and other personnel responded shortly after.

As a precautionary measure, all employees were evacuated from the building while HazMat crews analyzed the substance. Testing showed it to be a non-hazardous material.

Martinez was booked into the Broomfield County Detention Facility on Thursday for second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal tampering and theft.

His bond was set at $2,500, and his next court date is Dec. 11.

Police have identified another suspect in the case and are in the process of presenting charges against him.
