Man accused of killing two prostitutes indicted on 53 counts

DENVER (AP) - A Denver Grand Jury today returned a 53-count indictment against Richard Paul White accusing him of murder, kidnapping, sexual assault and other violent crimes.

The indictment alleges that 31-year-old White kidnapped, falsely imprisoned and sexually assaulted five women between August 2002 and February 2003. The indictment alleges that he murdered two of those women and attempted to murder a third. The bodies of the two murder victims were discovered buried in a backyard of a Denver home in September 2003. White was arrested in September on another charge accusing him of killing an Aurora man and he is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail. After his arrest, he allegedly confessed to the murder of five prostitutes he picked up on East Colfax Avenue in Denver. He claimed the bodies of the other three women were scattered in southern Colorado. An extensive search in Otero and Costilla counties did not discover any remains.
