Firefighters rescued a man from a basement fire in a one-story house Sunday afternoon in Loveland, according to Battalion Chief Rick Davis with the Loveland Fire Department.

Loveland Fire first got the call about a one-story home fire along the 1400 block of North Washington Avenue around 1:30 p.m. The caller was the person who rented the home and told firefighters he was trapped in the basement, according to Davis.

Fire rescue rushed to the scene and saw smoke coming from the small home, Davis said. Firefighters went down to the basement, put out the fire and got the man to safety after finding him on the floor.

The man was rushed to the Medical Center of the Rockies. He was conscious, Davis said, but his injuries were unknown.

According to Davis, the cause of the fire is unclear. Heavy damage is reported to the basement while there is some smoke damage on the first floor of the building.
