Longmont's new welcome sign symbolizes history, local landmarks

The new sign is located at the entry gateway point on Highway 119.

LONGMONT, Colo — Longmont installed a new welcome sign that's designed to include local landmarks, as well as the Colorado town’s history. 

The new sign is located at the entry gateway point on Highway 119.

The sign includes:

  • Rocks surrounding the sign to symbolize Longmont’s resiliency and strength during the 2013 flood. The rocks pictured are all that were left of the Sunset Bridge that were destroyed in the flood.
  • The St. Vrain Creek is represented by the flowing blue illustration.
  • The vertical sandstone blocks stand for the natural beauty Longmont has, as well includes their beautiful mountain views.

The community's input was evaluated to determine the sign's design.
