Longmont school threat unfounded, district says

Westview Middle School students were safely evacuated to Silver Creek High School and reunited with their parents.

LONGMONT, Colo. — Longmont Police investigated a potential safety threat at Westview Middle School on Friday afternoon that turned out to be unfounded.

St. Vrain Valley School District said that all students were safely evacuated to Silver Creek High School and reunified with their parents while law enforcement investigated.

The school district said someone called in a bomb threat earlier in the afternoon. Longmont Police and bomb-detecting K9s swept the school and didn't find anything suspicious, the district said.

Westview Middle School will be open from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, for students to pick up personal belongings before school on Monday, the district said.

The school district said anyone with information on who may have made the bogus threat can share that information with Principal Mark Spencer at spencer_mark@svvsd.org, or our School Resource Officer, Brett Rimsky, at rimsky_brett@svvsd.org.
