COLORADO, USA — Within minutes of the polls closing in Colorado, the Associated Press projected Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders to win the state's Democratic Presidential Primary, along with Vermont, Utah, and the biggest prize of the night, California.
Biden took Arkansas, Alabama, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Leading up to Super Tuesday, Sanders had 60 delegates after the Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada elections. Former Vice President Joe Biden followed close behind with 54.
This is the first time in 20 years Colorado has participated in Super Tuesday.
Colorado, along with 13 other states, voted Tuesday to determine the Democratic and Republican nominees for the general election in the 2020 presidential race.
Tuesday's elections came off the heels of contests in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina, which allocated just 4% of delegates. Awarding 34% of pledged delegates, Super Tuesday was 2020's largest opportunity for presidential candidates to win delegates in a single day.
To receive any delegates, each candidate was required to win at least 15% of the vote.
