KUSA - More Democrats are voting in the Colorado primaries than Republicans, and unaffiliated voters are tending to turn in more Democratic ballots, according to a 9Wants to Know analysis of data provided by the Colorado Secretary of State’s office at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The polls closed at 7 p.m. on June 26.

This is the first Colorado primary in which unaffiliated voters could participate, however they had to choose to either vote in the Democratic or Republican race.
According to the Secretary of State’s data, 1,043,685 voters cast early ballots in Colorado; 411,578 were by Democrats, 380,974 by Republicans and 251,133 by unaffiliated voters.
Of those unaffiliated voters who turned in ballots, 133,970 voted in the Democratic race and 82,762 voted in the Republican race. As of 7:00 p.m., 34,401 unaffiliated ballots had not yet been counted.
As of June 1, 2018, the most recent date for which voter registration was available, there were 1.2 million registered unaffiliated voters, which means most chose not to participate in the primary.
More specific data on how unaffiliated voters cast their ballots will be released on Wednesday.
