COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado) said Friday he is retiring from the U.S. House of Representatives.
Lamborn's office confirmed the nine-term congressman's announcement, which was first made on the Richard Randall Show on AM 740 (KVOR).
The congressman said he will leave at the end of 2024 when his current term expires. He has held his current office in Colorado's 5th District since 2007.
All three of Colorado's congressional districts currently held by Republicans will be up for grabs in this year's upcoming election.
Lamborn is the second Republican representing Colorado to announce their retirement from Congress in recent weeks. Rep. Ken Buck announced he would not seek a sixth term representing Colorado's 4th Congressional District, a seat he has held since 2014.
In response, Rep. Lauren Boebert announced she would abandon her bid for reelection in Colorado's 3rd Congressional District and instead run for Buck's vacated seat.
Boebert faced a tough battle in her current district against Democrat Adam Frisch after beating him by just 546 votes in 2022.
