Infection hospitalizes Colorado lieutenant governor

Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera, 74, is being monitored after her hospitalization.

DENVER — Colorado Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera was hospitalized Wednesday night due to an infection.

Gov. Jared Polis' office said on Thursday that Primavera, 74, is being monitored by doctors and there was no time given for when she may be discharged.

Even though she remains at the hospital, Polis said she plans to work Thursday.

“Lt. Governor Primavera is one of the strongest and toughest people I know and we are glad she is taking extra caution and getting the care she deserves so she can return to her role as the best Lt. Governor in the country as soon as possible," Police said. "I was not surprised when I learned that she plans to continue working today."

Primavera has served as Lieutenant Governor since 2019. She is a four-time cancer survivor.
