The Colorado Auto Dealers Association officially put its name Thursday behind a political candidate for the very first time: Republican Walker Stapleton for governor.
“Walker Stapleton is the leader Colorado needs,” Tim Jackson, the organization’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “We are endorsing a gubernatorial candidate for the first time in history because the stakes are so high in this election.
“Congressman Polis’ plans could result in thousands of job losses, but Walker understands how over-burdensome regulations will make the cars and light trucks Coloradans like or need to buy more expensive for families and put people out of jobs. We are encouraging our members and their employees across the state to support Walker this November.”
The 85-year-old association represents about 260 small, family owned and national dealerships that employ more than 43,000 people Coloradans.
