Police agencies share condolences with Adams County Sheriff's Office after deputy killed

After reports surfaced of an Adams County deputy killed Wednesday night in Thornton, law enforcement agencies around the state and country shared their condolences with their brothers in blue.

Police are conducting a manhunt to try and find the suspect or suspects involved.

"Praying for the Officer, his family, your team and that the suspect is apprehended before anyone else gets hurt," the Parker Police Department tweeted to them.

Denver Police also tweeted their thoughts and prayers to the fallen deputy.

"Thinking of your blue family..." Lakewood Police wrote.

Dougco Sheriff wrote that the agency was keeping the Adams County Sheriff's Office in their prayers.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Adams County Deputy who is down," the Weld County Sheriff Twitter account wrote. "@AdamsCoSheriff if there is anything we can do to help please let us know."

The Adams County Sheriff's Office thanked them for their kind words in a response.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the injured Deputy!!" the Colorado Springs Police Department wrote.

Mesa County Sheriff also shared their condolences.

The chief of police for La Vergne in Tennessee shared several prayer emojis with the department.

Commanding Captain Jim Jenson with the Dougco Sheriff's Office shared his thoughts as well. "My personal prayers go out to all my friends and coworkers at @AdamsCoSheriff," he wrote. "Unfortunately, I don't have to imagine what you're experiencing."

The Pittsburgh, Calif. Police Department also reached out.

"Sending our thoughts and prayers to @AdamsCoSheriff and to the Deputy who was shot this evening and to their family," they wrote.

"Prayers to our neighbors and many friends with Adams County Sheriff's Office," the Morgan County Sheriff's Office tweeted. "May all the deputies and officers BE SAFE during your search. Colorado Law Enforcement Strong!!!"

The Colorado Department of Justice has shared their condolences on Twitter as well.

Governor John Hickenlooper's office released a statement shortly after it was confirmed that the deputy has fallen in the line of duty.

"Tonight we watched as a community was on edge and a sheriff’s deputy was shot while responding to a call in Adams County. We are deeply saddened to learn that the deputy has died from injuries sustained in the shooting. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the family and friends of the deputy killed. The investigation is ongoing and authorities continue to work to restore calm to the area."

The Adams County Board of Commissioners said in part Thursday it is "devastated by the loss."

"We are grateful for the immediate response and support from emergency responders, medical professionals, and area law enforcement agencies in response to this tragic incident."
