Judge rules there will be no changes to DNC security plan

DENVER – A federal judge has sided with the city of Denver and against a group of protestors who were seeking better access to the Pepsi Center and surrounding areas during the Democratic National Convention.

The protestors, with the help of the ACLU, had sued the city in an effort to get closer to the convention.

As an example, they said a public demonstration zone set up by the Secret Service and the city of Denver would simply not be within "sight and sound" of delegates entering and exiting the Pepsi Center.

They complained a large media tent will be placed between the spot (located in lot "A" at the Pepsi Center) and the entrance to the arena.

In her opinion, U.S. District Court Judge Marcia Krieger said the security measures that will be undertaken at the Pepsi Center and surrounding areas "are narrowly tailored to serve important governmental issues."

She added, "There are adequate alternative channels by which the Plaintiffs can communicate their message."

The fight is not over however. Later on this month, the same judge will listen to arguments surrounding security issues at Invesco Field at Mile High.
