COLORADO, USA — Another 157 employees are being laid off from jobs at Dish Network headquarters campus following the company’s multibillion-dollar merger with its sister company EchoStar Corp.
The cuts come on top of the 499 positions the Douglas County satellite TV and mobile internet company already said it would lay off this month as it struggles with satellite TV subscriber losses and debt amassed trying to become a fourth competitive U.S. mobile phone service provider.
Dish Network informed the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment in a Jan. 8 letter that it is permanently cutting 157 positions in its wireless services division and customer services.
The company started notifying employees on Monday and expects that to continue over two weeks. The positions will formally end during a two-week stretch starting March 8, Dish Network’s letter said.
