KUSA - Chatfield State Park became a historical battleground today.
Using mock guns with flour for gun powder, 600 Jefferson County students re-enacted the Battle of Brandywine Friday.
History records the battle as one lost by George Washington's army in the Revolutionary War.
The event was organized by Aurora-based non-profit You Can Live History.
While all of the kids seemed to be having fun, organizers hope they learned something well.
"It was important for them to know that even though Americans and George Washington won the Revolutionary War, they lost most of the battles, including most of the biggest ones," Darryl Osborn from You Can Live History told 9NEWS.
"Most Americans don't really realize that."
The ultimate goal, organizers said, is to spark an interest in our nation's history.
