Jefferson County launches new centralized 911 dispatch center

Jeffcom 911 is Jefferson County's new centralized dispatch center, that officials say will provide better service for Jeffco and area residents.

Callers into the new consolidated Jefferson County 911 dispatch center can expect shorter response times and overall better service.

It's called Jeffcom 911 and it's made up of nearly 25 agencies that service Jeffco and the surrounding areas.

Jeff Streeter, the center's executive director, says all emergency and non-emergency calls will go to the dispatch center, which is expecting nearly 68,000 calls a month.

He says having everything in one central location makes it easier for everyone.

"Having that information right here, we can share it readily among other agencies," he said. "On a mutual aid call, if we had a major event in Jefferson County or even in the Denver metro area we have the ability to pull together resources from all of our law enforcement partners and our fire partners to provide response and assistance to wherever it may be needed."

Jeffcom 911 has already started fielding calls for Golden Police and Fire, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and West Metro Fire Rescue.

All other agencies are expected to be rolled over by mid-April.
