Woman who had husband murdered to be released from prison

ARAPAHOE COUNTY- A Pueblo woman who has served almost 18 years in prison for hiring two teens to murder her husband, is going to be released to a half way house.

Donna Yaklich, 50, will be released from prison in Canon City in the next 10 days, the Arapahoe County Community Corrections Board decided Thursday.Donna Yaklich was sentenced to 40 years in prison for conspiracy to murder her husband Dennis Yaklich. She told 9 Wants to Know reporter Paula Woodward she did it because he was abusive. Donna Yaklich will be released to a halfway house in Arapahoe County. She would like to spend the rest of her life trying to help other battered women, her mother told 9News.Dennis Yaklich was a bodybuilder and a Pueblo Police detective. A state task force has recently begun investigating his first wife's death following a 9NEWS investigation that raised questions about the coroner's report that she died of "natural causes."Two forensic experts suspect Barbara Yaklich may have been murdered.
