Convicted murderer, Shawna Nelson moved to new home

KUSA - Shawna Nelson, the woman convicted of killing her ex-lover's wife in January of 2007, is now in the State Women's Prison in Canon City. She was moved there on Monday.

Nelson was serving her sentence at the state prison in Denver after her conviction on March 3. She was sentenced to a mandatory sentence of life without parole.

Nelson was convicted of killing Heather Garraus on Jan. 23 of last year. Garraus was the wife of Ignacio Garraus with whom Nelson had a three-year affair.

At the time of her conviction, the judge told Nelson, "You carried out this crime with great planning and deliberation and Heather Garraus did not deserve to die as a result of your acts."

Thursday night on 9NEWS at 10 p.m., 9 Wants To Know will speak with Nelson's husband, Ken, in an exclusive interview about his life and his children's since the murder.

Ken Nelson now lives in Greeley with his children after living out of state for nearly a year.
