KUSA — The Boulder woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct while they both were college students is “adamant” that the FBI investigate the allegation, according to Twitter messages her attorney sent out Tuesday morning.
John Clune, the Boulder attorney who is representing Deborah Ramirez, also said he and his client have been in contact with the Senate Judiciary Committee “to determine the best process to provide senators with additional information.”
That committee is scheduled to hear Thursday from another woman, California college professor Christine Blasey Ford, who has alleged that Kavanaugh groped her, attempted to remove her clothes and clamped his hand over her mouth at a house party in the early 1980s when they were both high school students.
The New Yorker on Sunday reported that Ramirez alleged that Kavanaugh exposed himself in her presence at a party during the 1983-’84 school year at Yale.
Ramirez has not otherwise spoken publicly.
But Tuesday morning, Clune posted two messages on his Twitter account suggesting that she wants to be heard.
In the first one, Clune wrote: “We are in contact with the Senate Judiciary Committee to determine the best process to provide Senators with additional information. We remain adamant that an FBI investigation, where all witnesses are questioned under threat of perjury, is the only way to get the truth.”
The second tweet read: “Our client remains willing to cooperate with such an inquiry.”
Clune, an attorney at the Boulder law firm of Hutchinson Black and Cook, has handled some of the country’s highest-profile sexual harassment cases. He represented the woman who accused Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston of rape in 2012 and currently is the attorney for another woman who has accused Winston, now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, of groping her at an Arizona drive-through restaurant.
Clune could not be reached for comment Tuesday by 9NEWS.
Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to replace the retired Anthony Kennedy, has denied allegations that he was ever guilty of sexual misconduct with anyone.
