DENVER - Interstate 25 in Denver has reopened between Colorado Boulevard and Evans Avenue.
The highway was completely closed in both directions overnight.
The closure was to allow crews to place an arch atop a new pedestrian bridge. Three cranes lifted the 43-ton arch structure and maneuvered it into place.
The bridge connects a residential neighborhood and a light rail station on opposite sides of I-25. The $8-million structure will open to walkers and bicyclists by the end of summer. After this weekend's closure, one more I-25 closure will be necessary to pour the concrete deck of the bridge. That date has not been set.
