Since Denver Broncos Mile High Stadium opened in 2001, 40 other parks, arenas and stadiums have been built for teams in the four major sports leagues.
The Pittsburgh Business Times examined and compiled data on the major sports teams and their venues. The least expensive venue built during this period was the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder’s Chesapeake Energy Arena ($89.2 million in 2002), and the most expensive the new Yankee Stadium ($2.3 billion in 2009).
