GREELEY - The Greeley Police Department is mourning the loss of a fellow officer. It was an apparent suicide.
Her colleagues describe her as someone with a big heart who cared deeply about her community. 9NEWS is not identifying her out of respect to the family.
She took her life Sunday evening in her home.
Greeley Police Chief Jerry Garner calls it an extremely sad time for the department. He said losing a fellow officer is like losing a family member.
Garner says time may heal some wounds but losing an officer is something the entire department will carry with them.
