GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — Garfield County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a trespasser was found dead at an amusement park in Glenwood Springs Saturday.
The Garfield County Sheriff's Office said in a release that deputies were dispatched to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park just after 9 a.m. Saturday to conduct a death investigation.
According to a statement from Glenwood Caverns, the Garfield County Coroner's Office is investigating the incident as a possible suicide.
The body was discovered before the park was to be opened Saturday and was not related to any rides, the sheriff's office said.
Investigators determined that the unauthorized individual trespassed onto park property, and were working to retrace his steps and ensure he did not tamper with any equipment, rides or buildings. They are also investigating the vehicle he drove to the park.
The Garfield County Coroner's Office will identify the man and determine the cause of death.
The sheriff's office said the park was closed to the public in order to preserve evidence and "in the best interest of public safety."
It's not clear how long the park will remain closed.
