FORT COLLINS - A Fort Collins man who crashed his van into a garbage truck south of the city last week has died from his injuries.
The Larimer County Coroner's Office said Charles Hallenbeck, 29, died Saturday. He had been in critical condition following the Thursday afternoon crash outside the Larimer County Landfill.
According to police, Hallenbeck was driving north on South Taft Hill Road shortly before 4 p.m. when he slammed into the back of a garbage truck that was waiting to turn left into the dump. The garbage truck driver was unhurt.
Taft Hill was closed for several hours while police investigated.
Hallenbeck's death was the third death on Larimer County roads in 2014.
