Flags lowered to honor firefighter who died

Flags were lowered to half staff on Friday to honor the memory of North Metro Firefighter Craig Moilanen.

KUSA - Flags were lowered to half staff on Friday to honor the memory of North Metro Firefighter Craig Moilanen.

Moilanen, 36, died on Oct. 8 of complications from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a disease he sustained through his work as a firefighter. 9NEWS did an investigative series called "Left In The Smoke" which featured Moilanen before he passed away.

Moilanen is survived by his wife Amy, their two children and family members.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, 6673 W. Chatfield, Littleton. The service is open to the public.
