ARVADA, Colo. — Arvada Fire announced on Sunday night the off-duty death of a firefighter.

Kyle Trombly, 34, died after suffering injuries in a motor vehicle crash Sunday in Arvada, the department said. Police said the two-vehicle crash happened around 10:25 a.m. at the intersection of Indiana Street and Highway 72/86th Parkway. No other injuries were reported.

“This is an unimaginable loss for Kyle’s family and our entire district,” Arvada Fire Chief Kirk Lock said. “Kyle was an exceptional public servant, friend and colleague. He was relentlessly dedicated to learning his trade and bringing a high level of skill and courage to those in need.”

Trombly started his firefighting journey by volunteering at Fairmount Fire until joining Arvada Fire in 2011. He was also an active member of the Arvada Fire Honor Guard.
