A fire in Thornton that reportedly started in a shed before spreading to a garage, carport and car was extinguished in just 15 minutes, fire authorities said on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Thornton Fire Department said they got the call at 2:15 p.m. about a fire in a shed and were suspicious the blaze might be more serious than what was reported so they called in help from several nearby agencies.
Crews were greeted by a large plume of smoke when they got to the house along East 121st Way.
The fire reportedly started in a shed in the home's yard before spreading to the garage and then a neighbor's car and their carport, Thornton Fire said.
Fire crews are still looking into the exact cause of the fire but have said they believe the blaze to have been accidental. The homeowner's son was cleaning out the shed and in the process of moving three to four propane tanks from the shed to the garage.
A spokesperson for Thornton Fire said that was more than likely the cause of the fire.
According to a tweet from Thornton Fire, everyone in the home was evacuated and no injuries were reported. The home where the fire broke out is fine save for the garage.
Crews from Thornton Fire, Westminster Fire, North Metro Fire and Adams County Fire all responded to the blaze, which began in the shed of a home along East 121st Way.
