FREDERICK, Colorado — St Teresa’s Catholic Church in downtown Frederick is uninhabitable after a fire ripped through the building Tuesday night.
Members of the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District responded to the church at 436 Fifth Street just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and found flames in the walls and attic spaces of the church.
The church was in use when the fire broke out, but everyone inside made it out safely, the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District said. On Facebook, the church thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers. They also said they would let everyone know when and where masses would be held this weekend.
Fire investigators determined the fire was accidental and was electrical in nature due to the age of the wiring in the building.
