2 killed in suspected wrong-way crash on US 287

Two people were killed and one person was seriously injured in the crash.

BOULDER COUNTY — Drugs are suspected to have played a role in what’s believed to be a wrong-way crash on US 287 in Boulder County early Monday morning that left two people dead and another seriously injured, according to Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. on the southbound lanes of US 287 between CO 7 and Isabelle Road.

A 40-year-old woman was driving a pickup truck that was apparently going the wrong way and slammed into a van, Lewis said. The woman is believed to have been under the influence of drugs at the time and died at the hospital.

The 44-year-old man who was a passenger in the pickup truck died at the scene, Lewis said.

The lone occupant of the van was in serious condition as of this writing, Lewis said.

The coroner has not identified the two people who were killed in the crash.

The southbound lanes of US 287 were closed in the area for hours due to the investigation.
