EVERGREEN, Colo. — Evergreen High School was evacuated Friday afternoon while firefighters responded to a report of smoke.
A spokesperson for Evergreen Fire Rescue said they were alerted to smoke in the school's weight room a few minutes after 1 p.m. The school is located at 29300 Buffalo Park Road.
The entire school was evacuated safely, the fire department said.
Investigators believe malfunctioning machinery on the roof, possibly an air-handling unit, was pushing smoke into the building.
Crews cleared the scene at 2 p.m. and students were allowed back into the building to continue classes.
