83-year-old struck and killed by pick-up while crossing Loveland street

LOVELAND, Colo. — An 83-year-old man was struck by a pickup truck Thursday morning in Loveland.

Police said the man, his wife and dog were crossing West 35th Street at North Wilson Avenue at about 7:45 a.m. 

A pickup truck, driven by a 23-year-old woman, headed south on N. Wilson Ave. hit the man, police said. His wife and dog were not struck and were not injured.

Police said the man suffered extensive injuries in the crash. He was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies by Thompson Valley Ambulance personnel.

He was pronounced dead after heading into surgery at the hospital, according to police.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to investigators.

Police are looking into the status of the traffic signal at the intersection at the time of the collision.

No charges have been considered as of yet, according to police.

The names of the people involved have not yet been released.

The location of the collision is in the northwestern part of Loveland not far from The Olde Course at Loveland.

Police said there have been five fatal crashes in the city of Loveland in 2020.
