Plane crashes on golf course in Douglas County

The plane flipped over and two people were being evaluated by medical staff, fire officials said.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A single-engine airplane with two people on board crashed on a golf course in Douglas County Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. on the 7th hole tee box at the Meridian Golf Course, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. That's south of Centennial Airport.

One person was evaluated for minor injuries at the scene of the crash, according to South Metro Fire. Nobody was taken to the hospital, South Metro Fire said.

The airplane, a Cessna 172, had just departed from runway 17R at Centennial before crashing on the golf course, according to South Metro Fire.

The NTSB and FAA will be investigating the crash, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.
