ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — An adventurous dog is safe and sound after falling into an icy reservoir in Adams County Saturday.
Adams County Fire Rescue (ACFR) said crews from their agency and the Westminster Fire Department responded to Jim Baker Reservoir in Berkley Saturday afternoon for an ice rescue of a dog.
ACFR said the dog, a 155-pound St. Bernard named Mumford, had gone out onto the ice and fallen in.
Rescue crews pulled the pooch from the water and he's doing fine, according to the fire department.
"The St. Bernard is in great shape and happy to see his owners!" ACFR said in a tweet.
A spokesperson for the agency said Mumford's owners did the right thing by not trying to rescue their dog themselves. Instead, they stayed on the shore and gave their exact location to the 911 dispatcher, allowing professionals to pull the dog to safety.
