Denver Police investigate stabbing at Cheesman Park

The stabbing occurred Sunday night near the corner of East 8th Avenue and Williams Street. Police said there is no relationship between the suspect and the victim.

DENVER — Denver Police said Monday they arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing another man Sunday night in Cheesman Park.

According to a post on X, at about 9:32 p.m., police responded to reports of a stabbing at 1599 E. 8th Ave. in Cheeseman Park. Upon arrival, police said witnesses pointed out the suspect to the officers, who were able to safely take him into custody. 

Police said the victim, a man, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. No updates on his condition were provided as of Monday.

Police do not know the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, but said the suspect and victim did not know each other.

Dustin Ronfeldt, 43, is being held for investigation of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon.
