LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A construction worker was taken to the hospital on Thursday afternoon after falling about 40 feet down a elevator shaft in Lakewood, according to West Metro Fire Rescue (WMFR).

A technical rescue crew responded to the construction site at West Quincy Avenue and South Pierce Way, and used ladders to climb down the shaft and stabilize the worker.
