A construction worker is recovering after falling multiple stories at a construction site for a resort near Denver International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.

Aurora Police says the incident happened around noon at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center construction site at East 64th Avenue and Tower Road in Aurora.

He was found on the fifth floor, but firefighters are not sure how many floors he fell.

Aurora Fire Rescue Captain Tony Krenz says the rescue was a complicated one.

"The difficulty of this rescue was actually locating the construction worker inside a sheet rock wall in duct work," Krenz said. "So, it took us a few minutes with the aid of multiple fire companies and construction crews to locate this person."

Both Denver and Aurora Fire Departments responded to the rescue.

The worker was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, but it's unclear what his condition is.

9NEWS was told all employees were dismissed for the day after the fall.

The Gaylord Rockies will be one of the largest hotels in Colorado, developers told 9NEWS last year.

This resort will be the fifth of its kind in the country, with the total cost of the project clocking in around $800 million.
