COLORADO SPRINGS - A dozen Colorado agencies have come together to set up a community crisis Center in Colorado Springs.
Spokespersons from each agency held a press conference Sunday to announce the center's opening.
"What we know is that by sharing experiences in this community, it breeds strength," Dennis Michael Baker of the American Red Cross said. "It also lets people know that whatever they're feeling, whatever they're thinking about or what they witnessed or went through is normal and is part of the human process of recovery."
Among the agencies providing services to the center are: the Colorado Springs Police Department, the American Red Cross, and the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance.
Services will include counseling, therapy dog treatment and crime victim compensation counseling.
Officials say the center will be operational until at least Dec. 3, at which point they'll reevaluate.
The community crisis center is located at 3650 N. Nevada Street.
