Colorado Parks and Wildlife wants to protect your hives from bears

Are you covered in bees? Do you take your coffee and women the same way? Was your father and his father before him a beekeeper, and you want to follow in their bee-covered footsteps?

Well, if you’re a beekeeper, Colorado Parks and Wildlife wants to help protect your hives from bears. It’s much less endearing when it’s a real life bear and not Winnie the Pooh stealing honey from you, after all.

So the CPW is providing materials to build electric enclosures around your hives. They’re 8 feet by 8 feet, big enough for one or two hives, and are easy to set up, CPW said.

Beekeepers that live within city limits will have to check their local rules on electric fencing.
