ID=21123477MEEKER, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Parks and Wildlife has obtained nearly 700 acres of wildlife habitat near the Rio Blanco State Wildlife Area west of Meeker.

According to KJCT-TV, the land was purchased from ExxonMobile with funding from Great Outdoors Colorado and from the sale of Habitat Stamps.

The addition increases the Rio Blanco state wildlife area from 390 acres to nearly 1,000 acres of wildlife habitat.

The new land includes a mile of access to the White River and several wetlands. It will be a refuge for birds, small game and limited big game hunting opportunities. It will also provide winter range for deer and elk.
