SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, Colo. — For the second time in about a week, a Colorado mountain pass in San Miguel County was closed due to a mudslide.

A storm caused flooding and debris flow on Wednesday night at Royer Gulch and resulted in extensive damage to Imogene Pass, which is between Telluride and Ouray, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office.

The San Miguel County Road and Bridge Department said on Facebook that the closure will likely extend into early September.

Imogene Pass also closed for a mudslide on Aug. 12 and reopened two days later. Nearby Black Bear Pass also closed for a mudslide last week and ended up being closed for the season, the department said on Thursday.

Imogene Pass reaches 13,114 feet. Tomboy Road, which goes over the pass, is a rugged dirt road that's about 18 miles long. The Imogene Pass Run, which happened every September, is scheduled this year for Sept. 7.
